When EDT asked me to illustrate Peterchens Mondfahrt, I jumped at the chance. The theater’s production gives the classic a modern take, and I wanted my illustrations to do the same. I worked with deep blues, warm yellows, and textured shapes in a screenprint-inspired style, so everything feels handmade.
Peterchen and Anneliese are curious and a bit cheeky, Sumsemann is grumpy but lovable, and the Man in the Moon is calm and a little mysterious. I kept the look simple and clean, with a few folk-inspired details.
The scenes are meant to feel like stills from a stage set: stars, clouds, and a big moon as the backdrop.
