I had the privilege of illustrating portraits of inspiring women—Julia Child, Nettie Stevens, Beatrix Potter, and Marie Tharp—for Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls volumes 1 and 2. My style for these portraits combines detailed, hand-drawn linework with a subtle, vintage-inspired palette, aiming to capture each woman’s unique spirit and legacy. Drawing from mid-century illustration and classic portraiture, I wanted to create images that feel both timeless and empowering, celebrating these trailblazers in a way that resonates with readers of all ages.
